Education – April

Join all your friends at Faith Lutheran Church for Kids U April 17!

Everyone at Faith Lutheran Church is excited about KIDS U, our Sunday afternoon children’s program—engaging, fun, and built on a solid religious foundation. Our program is based around children having fun and learning about Jesus.

Our Palm Sunday lesson will tell the story of Jesus’ ride into Jerusalem on a small donkey from the point of view of the very proud mother donkey. This lesson helps kids see that whatever they do that is worthy of praise is a gift of God.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (H4H) UPDATE APRIL 2011

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (H4H) UPDATE APRIL 2011

First off I have an address correction for the build site.  The address is:

18451 Patterson Lane, Huntington Beach

H4H address

It’s the open lot on the west side just off Ellis.  With this address GPS units won’t be fooled anymore.

As of April 5 construction has not yet begun, but is scheduled to start this month.

“FAITH Builds Day”

In April I’m placing a request for a “FAITH Builds Day” assignment.  This will be a Saturday.

This “Build Day” Saturday is the day all of us get together and actually go to the site and perform whatever building tasks their site engineers have scheduled (you must be 18 or older).  Since this is being done in advance I have no way of knowing what tasks we might be called on to perform, however we will be put to good use.

I expect our build day will be sometime in June or July 2011, and we are not limited to only one.  Once our build day(s) request is processed we’ll be given an actual date or dates which I will publish as it becomes available.

To place the “Build Day” request I need to know approximately how many volunteers we are.  This allows H4H to schedule enough, yet not too many volunteers on any particular day.  Please respond via email ASAP to greggleonard@verizon.net and communicate your desire to participate in our “FAITH Builds Day”. Remember you must be 18 or older to volunteer on site.

Opportunities to volunteer exist that do not require wielding a hammer, paint brush or nail gun, i.e.: “Lunch Brigade”.  We are looking for a dedicated volunteer to head up this important department.  As we all know an ARMY of volunteers runs in its stomach.

YOUTH VOLUNTEERS

Younger volunteers are welcome and encouraged to participate in offsite activities.  Jack Schlinsog jackschlinsog@gmail.com is coordinating our youth volunteers.

Thank you for your desire to serve your neighbor in this special way, and remember to specify what type of volunteer you are:  Hammer n Saw, Youth or Lunch Brigade.  You may be a volunteer in more than one area if you choose.

PROPERTIES UPDATE MARCH 2011

PROPERTIES UPDATE MARCH 2011

Good news, our campus is holding up well, not much breaking down in the first months of this Glorious New Year.

There are a few items on the horizon to be aware of.  First off carpet cleaning will be scheduled sometime before Easter; the exact date is yet to be determined.  Second Properties is looking into slurry coating and re-striping the parking lot in the coming months.  As always “Work Day” is the second Saturday of the month from 9AM-Noon.

Thanks for showing your support!

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITYS FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY/THRIVENT BUILDS

Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent are teamed up to build in our own back yard.  What an opportunity this presents for FAITH CONGREGATION to reach outside ourselves in our own community.

This build is scheduled to break ground April 2011 and be completed December 2011.

The build address is:  18451 Patterson St., Huntington Beach it is located on the North side of Ellis between Faith and Beach Bl.  “WALKING DISTANCE” Check it out.

Properties unanimously approved a motion to volunteer the use of our parking lot for Habitat volunteers as parking on-site is limited.  Opportunities are coming up in June for “Build Day” volunteers.  Stay tuned for updates on how you can become part of “FAITH’S HABITAT HAMMER-N-SAW TEAM”

For info, or to volunteer, see Gregg Leonard; No experience necessary.

Opportunities to serve in Fundraising, Youth Activities, providing Lunches, and Site Hosting are also available for the tool challenged, yet WILLING volunteer.

Go to ThriventBuilds.com for more information.

I will be putting together Faith’s hammer-n-saw team, and scheduling a build day for us.  Email greggleonard@verizon.net to volunteer and get on the emailing list.

NewYear Update

January eNews Update

Happy New Year!  FaithLabs has been busy on providing the electronic content that you have been asking for.

We are still working on some of the details but you can check out our work in-progress for the eTide,  just click here to see.

We are also added the January calendar from the Tide.  We are working on a viewer/reader solution but for now they are in PDF and you will need to download.

All of these things are being added to the website because that is the best place to store them.  We are still looking for a new home or hosting service for the web site.

We are also working on adding the bulletin to the sermon so you might want to check that out.

If you are interested in posting to the Faith Blog just drop a line and let us know.
