Rally Day Picnic

If you are ever nostalgic for a traditional church picnic, then don’t miss our Rally Day Picnic to kick off the school year. We will gather at the South end of our campus after our 11:00 AM Worship Service to enjoy a BBQ and potluck style sides and desserts! There will be great music from a live band. Plus the kids can enjoy games and activities in the park. Good old fashion fun!

Return to the Jungle at KIDS U

Sunday, September 18, 2011 (Future dates: Oct. 16, Nov. 27, and Dec. 18)

Everyone at Faith Lutheran Church is excited about KIDS U, our Sunday afternoon children’s program. Our free program is similar in format to VBS and is based on children having fun and learning about Jesus. On September 18 we’ll put on our t‑shirts and gather with our tribes and go on another Jungle Adventure!

Subject: IMPORTANT! Habitat/Thrivent Builds Construction Schedule Change

Hello friends of the Habitat for Humanity Lutheran Partnership,

This will be short and sweet: the City of Huntington Beach has caused a new delay of at least a month to our Thrivent Builds project start. The anticipated start date will be pushed back, and the volunteer build schedule will need to be rebuilt once a start date is known. Please do not assume that you have a build day scheduled even if you have discussed it with Peter Brakke previously. You are encouraged to build an interest list of volunteers, but Peter will have a lot of work to do to rebuild the schedule once we have more information.

Jaymie & Aimee of Habitat OC will work with Peter to ensure that the new build schedule accomplishes the following purposes:

1. It will meet the Thrivent Builds grant requirement of 50% Lutheran volunteers.

2. It will meet the TB grant’s December 31 completion/certificate of occupancy requirement.

We are all disappointed at this new delay and sincerely appreciate your understanding. We know it is difficult to plan and promote build days when the dates are so fuzzy. We share your frustration.

The good news is that we have raised all of the money and a new Habitat/Thrivent Builds home will be built in Huntington Beach this year for a hardworking, deserving family. We will undoubtedly have to double up groups on many Saturdays, and so we will have opportunities to make new friends J. And, if you have the ability to put together weekday groups your volunteer options will increase.

Kids-U SeaQuest & Events

It is May and Kids-U has started the summer countdown!

The Kids-U theme for May 22 is “SeaQuest – Treasure”. We will have a great time singing songs, making a craft, playing games, etc. while learning that “Eternal Treasure is a Life that puts God First”.

Then we switch into picnic mode: Sunday, June 26, Kids U is going on a SeaQuest Picnic. Kids and their families are invited to join us at 12:30 pm for grilled hamburgers and hotdogs in the park. After lunch the parents will be excused while the kids go on a SeaQuest adventure!

We are also hosting our annual Sunday School Picnic on Sunday, June 12, to kick off our summer Sunday School program. The picnic will be held in the park during the education hour from 9:50 am to 10:50 am. At this year’s “Beach Party” picnic we’ll enjoy hotdogs, s’mores and other beach fare. We will all have fun playing with beach balls, doing the limbo w/ Barbra and other fun activities while praising the Lord!

Join all your friends at Faith Lutheran Church for Kids U April 17!

Everyone at Faith Lutheran Church is excited about KIDS U, our Sunday afternoon children’s program—engaging, fun, and built on a solid religious foundation. Our program is based around children having fun and learning about Jesus.

Our Palm Sunday lesson will tell the story of Jesus’ ride into Jerusalem on a small donkey from the point of view of the very proud mother donkey. This lesson helps kids see that whatever they do that is worthy of praise is a gift of God.
